Endorsement: Chris Larson for State Senate

July 29, 2010

MILWAUKEE — On behalf of its growing membership on Milwaukee’s Southeast side, Clean Wisconsin Action Fund proudly announced its endorsement today of Milwaukee County Supervisor Chris Larson for the 7th State Senate District. Larson is challenging incumbent Sen. Jeff Plale in the Democratic primary to be held September 14th.

“Milwaukee has become an epicenter for clean energy business in Wisconsin. The citizens of the 7th State Senate District deserve a legislative leader who will support their emerging business community and create new jobs by promoting clean energy,” said Gary Goyke, board chair of the Clean Wisconsin Action Fund. “Because of Chris Larson’s strong record representing the people of Milwaukee as County Board Supervisor and his pro-clean energy platform, our state can count on Chris Larson to help pass the clean energy policies needed to create more jobs, protect the health of 7th Senate District residents and clean our environment.”

Larson is a strong proponent of clean energy job creation and has a demonstrated record of supporting policies that promote clean energy. As a County Board Supervisor, Larson worked to enact policies to renovate county-owned buildings to make them more energy efficient. Energy-efficiency projects like these create jobs, reduce pollution and save taxpayers money.

“The citizens of the 7th Senate District understand that investing in clean energy and energy efficiency can create thousands of family-supporting jobs and make Wisconsin stronger and more energy independent,” Goyke said. “We need strong leaders like Chris Larson who recognize the importance of capitalizing on this amazing opportunity.”

Larson’s understanding of the economics of clean energy offers a clear contrast to his primary opponent Sen. Jeff Plale, who unfortunately takes credit for helping to defeat the Clean Energy Jobs Act during the last legislative session.

“Larson reflects the 7th Senate District’s commitment to clean energy job creation and to protecting Wisconsin’s environment,” Goyke said. “A vote for Chris Larson is a vote to move the 7th Senate District’s job opportunities forward.”
