Endorsement: Janet Bewley for State Assembly

August 23, 2010

MADISON — On behalf of its thousands of members, Clean Wisconsin Action Fund proudly announced its endorsement of Janet Bewley for the 74th Assembly District today.

“Janet Bewley is committed to protecting Wisconsin’s beautiful natural resources, especially Lake Superior,” said Gary Goyke, board chair of the Clean Wisconsin Action Fund. “On the heels of a legislative session when much environmental legislation was dismissed, Bewley’s dedication to environmental stewardship would be a welcome addition to the Wisconsin State Assembly.”

Bewley recognizes the monumental importance of protecting the water quality and the biodiversity of Lake Superior as well as the many inland lakes of the 74th Assembly District. As a former board member for the Bayfield Regional Conservancy, Bewley worked to protect lands, waters, forests and farms in three counties located in the 74th District. She also served as Dean of Students at Northland College, an environmental liberal arts college located in Ashland where students participate in regional environmental efforts.

“Bewley understands the importance of a clean environment and has the experience necessary to be a strong leader in the State Capitol,” said Goyke. “A vote for Janet Bewley is a vote to protect Lake Superior and Wisconsin’s wonderful environment.”
