MADISON — On behalf of its thousands of members across the state, Clean Wisconsin Action Fund proudly announced its endorsement of Ryan Schroeder for the 31st Assembly District today.

“Coming off of a legislative session where many environmental protections were weakened or eliminated, electing leaders who will stand up for clean air and water is more important than ever,” said Gary Goyke, board chair of the Clean Wisconsin Action Fund. “Ryan Schroeder is a leader we can trust to protect Wisconsin’s environment and stand up for the health of our families.”

In 2007, Clean Wisconsin presented Schroeder with its Local Elected Official of the Year Award. This award was given to Schroeder for his work to promote a ban on phosphorus in fertilizer as the 3rd District Alderman on the Delavan City Council.  Phosphorus is the primary culprit responsible for the smelly, unsightly algae blooms that close beaches and turn many Wisconsin lakes green in summer.

“Schroeder’s key leadership at the local level helped move the state to enact the same law, protecting our beautiful lakes, rivers and streams across Wisconsin,” said Goyke. “With tourism hotspots like Williams Bay and Fontana on Geneva Lake, voters in the 31st Assembly District understand the need to protect our culturally and economically valuable waters.”

Schroeder also serves on the Land and Water Conservation Board, which connects local and state governments on conservation and farmland preservation issues.

“Ryan Schroeder understands the need to protect Wisconsin’s environment, and has been proactively working to do so for years,” said Goyke. “A vote for Ryan Schroeder is a vote to protect Wisconsin’s beautiful lakes, rivers, streams and wonderful places.”
