MADISON — On behalf of its thousands of members across the state, Clean Wisconsin Action Fund proudly announced its endorsement of Bernie Starzewski for Assembly today.

“Coming off a legislative session where many environmental protections were weakened or eliminated, electing leaders who will stand up for clean air and water is more important than ever,” said Gary Goyke, board chair of the Clean Wisconsin Action Fund. “Bernie Starzewski is a leader we can trust to protect Wisconsin’s environment and stand up for the health of our families.”

Starzewski supports increasing the use of clean, renewable energy sources such as wind farms and solar panels. As the home to Tower Tech, a wind turbine manufacturer, and Orion Energy, the maker of solar light tubes, the 25th Assembly district is a clean energy hub that demonstrates the job-creating power of clean energy.

“Clean energy businesses are already creating jobs in the 25th Assembly District and across Wisconsin,” said Goyke. “We need leaders like Bernie Starzewski in the legislature who will vote to help these businesses grow and create more jobs.”

Every year Wisconsin sends more than $12 billion dollars out of state to purchase fossil fuels. A recent poll conducted by a bipartisan research team found that nearly 9 out of 10 Wisconsin voters support increasing our use of wind and solar power, and 84 percent support requiring 30 percent of our electricity to come from renewable sources. The current standard requires 10 percent of Wisconsin’s electricity to come from renewable sources by 2015.

“Wisconsin voters want to move forward with clean energy,” said Goyke. “A vote for Bernie Starzewski is a vote to move us closer to a clean energy future.”
